i just bought my 240 about 3 weeks ago now, and i love it. the person i bought it from says its a brand new engine, you can tell it is when your driveing it, but there is a whole lot of smoke comming from my exaust when i acclerate. if its just sitting, you can smell gas if your standing behind it. some friends say im running rich, but i think its somthing else. if you have any ideas or know how to fix it that would be great.:help

You're running too rich. Culprits are many. The usual suspects are O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, MAFS, fuel injector leaks. Check your ECU to see if it is throwing any codes. There's a detailed section in this forum on how to access the ECU and activate the self-diagnostic - search. Also look at the engine while it's running, see if you smell gas leaking directly from the injectors as it idles.

what color is the smoke. If its white or witha blue tint. You are dealing witha water or oil leak. use your dipstick. If the oil is kinda whit or frothy, you have a water leak most likly due to blown head gasket.

If it's running rich you can usually smell it. I would do what meantime said. Another thing it could be is something with to much fuel going into the engine check your fuel injectors and make sure they are not sticking. It could also be a cracked hose somewhere which is making the computer think it's takeing in extra air when it's not.
