Well there is probably a good reason I did not find it, since it could be moving backwards. But anyways, I have a 1992 240 with 175k on it. I know this guy that has a SOHC KA that has just been rebuilt bored .20 over and the head has been ported. Basically what I am trying to get to is he needs money bad and said he would take $150 for it.

So does anyone know how to swap a DE to an E? Or do you know where I could find the information. Oh and please don't try to tell me how the DE is much better because I know for 150 this E is much better than mine.

Thank You Travis

If you search for the e to de swap, just do everything backwards .

Engine, engine harness, ecu

probably the other thingies that are attached to the engine (distributor, water pump, alternator, etc).

You will also want to change your rpm/tach to the sohc one.

That should do it.

Not to sound mean, but that is a waste. You don't take a good motor an swap in one that is older in design and theory. I can't name one single thing that is better about a SOHC motor. But I can name several in the other direction. If you want me to I'll move this to the KA forum and not the KAT forum. But you'll likely get the same answer. This thread gets a few more days of life before I lock it up. Basically until I get back from the NICO Meet.

You can post all you want about why we shouldn't tell you not to do the swap. But that doesn't mean your doing the right thing. If you want a good motor, then build the DOHC you have.

Is this even going to be forced induction???

fo sho.

I've an SOHC my self, im not afraid to admit there is no advantage to it. If your car is already wired for a DOHC, just stick with the DOHC. An SOHC is a fine engine to work with, it's not like you can't get 400whp out of it, but there are certain limiting factors that the SOHC has that the DOHC doesn't.

Yeah I've been thinking it would be a lot a hassle for less power potential. I forgot to say I was thinking of putting together a turbo setup from a friends eclipse. I would also have to get intercooler piping, an exhaust manifold, fuel pump, and tuning but do not have the money right now.

I have also thought about just buying the engine for the new pistons and rods to put into my DE. But I would never be able to boost on DE head with those pistons. I also have a 90 240 but it is missing the LR caliper and had been sitting for so long when I bought it I do not trust the suspension. So any parts that I may need for the swap I probably already have.

you should put that engine in your 90 240sx, it'd be so much of a waste to put the E in a DE + am pretty sure thats not even legal(puttin an older motor in a newer body), unless you don't have any type of emissions or stuff like that.(visual testing)

Only thing I can think of is that the KA-E has an EPROM ECU.
