Ok I have a 89 SOHC coupe with a digital cluster. Originally the digital speedo had stopped displaying, so I had the transistor changed. Now after re-installing the cluster I have a new problem. Everything displays fine for about 5 min, after that the speedo and dash lights all go out. I inspected the TCU VERY THOROUGHLY, and saw no problems there. I do have an aftermarket stereo but the original harness is uncut, they used a professional install kit that had wiring harness connectors.

I am thinking it might be a ground but I don't have access to a FSM to check the wiring on the cluster. So if anybody has any ideas that would be great, or if they could post up some info on the SOHC cluster wiring that would be even better.

Thanks for reading hopefully I can fix this without taking it to a dealer.

p.s. driving around in open loop with a fuel cut is just retarded, its the worst of every world

When electronic's blink off or become intermittent regularly, it is because of HEAT, either in components or the solder pads [having become crystalized and changing over time].

Common in MAF, HVAC and other displays in all Nissans.

Why I recommend to all Infiniti members that they collect every electronic module from junkyard or just buy a few wrecks as spares if they desire to keep older cars beyond 15 years.

$500 for a complete junker sure beats buying new modules from dealer.Especially since the new modules may have sat in a warehouse for 15-20 years.
