I have a 91 240 sx that was stolen. It was recovered 8 months later with a new paint job, body kit, sun roof and about 3 times the normal power. I put the correct massair flow on, however it still wont idle, smokes, runs extremely rich. I think they put a cam and poss injectors, but I don't want to throw parts at it. Is there a way to check this.

Thats a win and fail at the same time. Well anyway, does it have a catalytic convertor on it? what about the timing, is it set correctly? I would also check the temperature sensor, make sure there is a signal going the ECU.

Somethings to check.

is this a ka24de?

Are you sure the MAF you put on it is good? Make sure the MAF is getting signal. The factory service manual (FSM) has a section on voltages for the MAF. If you don't have the FSM, you can download it here: zerothread/253879

Just look for Factory Service Manuel and the year that applies to your car.

You could also try unplugging it and see if it changes. If it doesn't, sounds like something is up with the MAF or the signal to or from the MAF, like a cut wire.
