so i was sittin in my room, which is on the 2nd floor and overlooks a busy street, and i hear some sirens. no big deal here, emergency vehicles go by all the time. then i noticed it was 2 sirens, so i looked outside just in time to see this u-haul haulin arse down the street. it almost rolled goin around this bend in the road. 2 cops were chasing it, followed by another cop. then another. and 3 more. then a sherriff came from the other direction, flipped a u-turn and went after it, joined by a group of 5 more city cops. then another sherriff. then 2 more city cops. then 3 more city cops. then a string of 6 more city cops and a special operations van. 26 police vehicles in all. i have no idea what that was all about. mobile meth lab maybe?

That's one of those times where you REALLY wish you had a police scanner...that sounds crazy, I've seen something like that outside an apartment complex when about 20 cop cars were parked in a semicircle around the building. Then one time the swat team was parked at my house because my neighbor went nuts and took his girlfriend hostage or something, then he splattered his brains on the kitchen wall, crazy stuff.

What would rock would be pulling a PIT on a U-Haul truck!

Got to practice my PIT's at Bondurant - What a freakin' rush. There's an innate drive in all of us to AVOID contacting another car - When you're forced to do it intentionally by an instructor yelling in your ear, it's such an adrenaline buzz....

That's nothing, when I was in 3rd grade, this guy went on a rampage. Beat his girlfriend, nearly killed her, and then he took a gun and ran around shooting cops and whatnot. He ended up in a shootout in the parking lot right in front of my apartment. I watched from the window as this guy who was literally 20ft from me shoot at the cops. The police shot my dad's truck up, which I thought was kind of funny, and eventually put a bullet in the guy's head. I watched it happen. His head didn't explode like I thought it would, he just kind of fell over as if God had struck him down. Meh, it was good fun though.

don't ever try them with a miata or any lighter car really, good way to get your front end pushed off the road.

PIT = Pursuit Intervention Technique.

The act of intentionally striking (laterally) and maintaining contact with the (preferably) left rear corner of a fleeing vehicle while accelerating slightly and turning right (slightly) to break rear wheel traction and spin the fleeing vehicle to the right, ideally stopping the pursuing vehicle such that the driver's doors of both cars are touching, thereby stopping the pursuit and containing the offending driver momentarily for backup units.
