I think the bigger the exhuast, the more hp but less torque

the smaller it is the more torquethere is this thing u can get to go in ur exhuast

that is small at lower speeds, and opens up as u increase speed, to maximize torque and HP

even if this is the case we are only talking maybe 2-3 horses/ftlbs if you have no other mods. that kind of change is not recognisable from your butt dyno

its just in your head :)

The most famous adjustable muffler would probably be the Supertrapp muffler, but it is adjustable by installing/ removing baffles, so it's not "active" like you discribe.

The other is a new type of muffler made by APEXi, called the PS Revolution. It has a exhaust pressure activated valve in it that opens with the amount of flow. My guess is it's way expensive.

well that one that automatically opens and closes i believe is an A'Pexi. it's a very new product from them.

Not necessarily. It depends on a lot of factors. A larger exhaust tends to increase torque at higher RPM's while potentially losing some low RPM torque. To increase HP at a certain RPM, you must increase torque at that RPM. So depending on what the torque curve looks like and how the larger exhaust affects the motor, you may be able toi increase torque and HP.
