OK -- this is strange. '03 M45, 32K miles. Started it up today and drove it over to Costco (about 10 miles) parked it, went inside for maybe an hour (yes, it's AZ and it's 110 outside today)

Came back out, popped the locks and trunk, loaded the car up, hopped in, started the car, quick reverse out, then drive and head out of the parking lot. I notice the AC doesn't seem to be cooling down AT ALL. Then, while at the red lght, I notice the temp gauge is stone cold (hasn't moved) the dash gear indicator is blank (car is in D) and the AC isn't working, The tach, speedo and gas gauge all working fine.

I drive up to a fast food restaurant, pull in and park, turn OFF the car, pull the key from the dash, re-insert the key, start the car -- and EVERYTHING is fine. No issues. Drive it home. Stop it, re-start it - everything is OK.

This has me a little frightened - is this the begining of a potentially expensive electrical problem? Anyone else seen this before? Thanks in advance -- Drew

How old is your battery? I woud start looking there maybe your terminals are gunked up.

I beleive the battery is original. I've reviewed the complete service history of the car (it was a Cali car until 2 months ago) and the previous owner had this M in for service every 2K miles. I see the dealer notation where it states "battery Checks Out OK". As I am now in AZ-- where the heat EATS batteries in two years or less, I might just go ahead and replace it now. The terminals are spotless, BTW. Even has the green and red felt rings underneath each connector.

Could the cause of that problem really be that simple?

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Yes, five or six years from date of manufacture (should be marked on the battery - it is a bit cryptic) is most excellent!

Definitely replace it ... I don't know if it is the source of your problems, but it can't hurt.

And, finally, like I tell everybody, an Extended Warranty is an excellent thing to have on any modern "high-electronic-content" car from any brand - not just Infiniti.
