lost of power and idle /Please help

Hi I drive a 240sx HB and i have a lost of power in my single cam, how do I know these i raced my friend. we both have stock KA24E. I took off before him and he just passed by me. Also when I heat up my car and stop at the red lights the 240sx idles at 800 and then it raises up too 1400 check engine light comes up. Also when im on gear i step on the gas pedal to keep it steedy and then it loses POWER. please help me. running 91 gas. Thank you

if i were you id do a basic tune up, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, clean the throttle body,did you read your code when the check engine light came on?

Found the problem it was the clutch so i had it replace thanks.
