I have a 2001 QX4 (with navigation) and the nav's DEST button has fallen out and been lost. Any ideas on how to find a replacement? The dealer tells me I'd have to order another nav unit ($4000 plus) to get a new button, ouch.

I hate to say this, but the dealer is your absolute only option. I have Nav in my QX4 as well. I am missing the recirculation, fan mode, and defrost buttons on my Nav unit. I searched every possible option and the dealer is the only one. I even looked through the whole PDF dealer software with the Service Tech, and there is no part numbers or anything relevant to replacing the buttons. You do have to replace the whole unit.

There is hope though! Talk to your dealer about what they call a "goodwill replacement" option. Basically the dealer will contact Nissan International and see if they have any reconditioned units that they can send out to the dealer to replace your existing one. My local dealer in Denver said that most likey the unit itself will be free. The only catch is that you have to have them install the new one. They said if they could get Nissan to do this all that I would have to pay is 1 hour of labor for them to install the new Nav unit. Total cost: $110

I am actually still waiting to hear from the service advisor about whether or not Nissan is going to do this with mine. There seems to be a pretty good chance that they will. I'll let you know every detail of what happens as soon as I find out.

Good luck, hope this helps!
