Aftermarket lock nut got lost. I'm thinking that I'll get a vice grip to take it off. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Find a socket that you can afford to replace. Many times, the socket will split and be ruined when removing locks. Hammer the socket onto/over the locking lug nut. Remove lock.

If that doesn't work:

Find a socket that will fit over the locking nut. Put JB Weld or similar hardening puddy into the socket, then stick the socket(with JB Weld inside) onto the locking lug nut. Wait for the JB Weld to harden. Remove. The socket and lock will be useless after this.

Got it, thanks mr. Smith! The first one worked, I used a hammer and a flat head to remove the metal "ring" around the actual locking mechanism. Then I used an old socket and hammer to remove it. *sigh* losing things suck.
