Hi again,

I have a 2000 qx4. I lost the keyless remote. It had stopped working a while back (i'm guessing a dead battery) so i took the key off. Now just when I was thinking of getting the battery replaced I can't find it.

I don't have the cash to get a new one from a dealer. Does anyone know if the keyless remotes advertised on ebay are legit. Such as this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...13235

Most of them look like they used one for pathfinders but say they will work on qx4s. It seems there are a few types of remotes the 2000 qx4. The listing i linked says its a MODEL/ 01A. FCC ID: KBRASTU10 but says it will not work on a Model A.

Since I don't have my original remote I can't tell which one I have. The manual doesn't say anything either. How can I find out if this one will work. I don't want to ask a dealer because I assume they will just try to sell me an original and can't officially condone the ebay stuff.

Thanks!

Have you tried giving the dealer your VIN# then having them tell you which one you need? I lost mine once, found it in the bushes in my front year a year later and it still worked. I have access to three Infiniti dealers and ended up buying the key from one dealership and having it programmed at another one. Saved me a few bucks.

My 2001 also has chipped keys I believe?

Not much help to you, however I say call ANY dealer in the country until you get some info. You cannot use any ole' one on your car without having it programmed otherwise I could walk up to anyones car and get in.

Thanks for the reply. If you remember how much did you pay for the remote from the dealer? I heard its up to $200.

The only reason I'm intrigued by the ones on ebay is that there are a bunch of them being sold by shops that specialize in selling them with thousands of positive feedback. So I did more digging on google and apparently it is possible to program/reprogram remotes on certain models. Some of the sellers will give you instructions but you can find them online on sites such as:

http://programyourremote.com/c...=1385

It looks like its a lot more complicated but kind of like programming a garage door opener. More like a Nintendo secret code with pulling your key in and out of the ignition multiple times, pressing buttons...etc. The kicker is that it only works on certain type of remotes and apparently the 2000 qx4 had three different types of remotes.

My problem still remains that since I don't have my remote I don't know what model I had and if its the kind I can program myself. The manual doesn't help. Does anyone know an easy way to find this out? I guess I'll try some dealers and see if they volunteer this info. I could also try asking some of these sellers on ebay. Relatively speaking as far as ebay goes it seems like a low risk thingto try. They go for $20-50 depending on condition and if they have a nissan or infiniti logo and most of the sellers have lots of positive feedback and return policies. Hey if it works I'll get two of these.

I'll keep you guys updated if I find out myself and give this a try. In the meantime would appreciate if anyone knows how to find out my remotes model #.

Thanks

I am in the same boat, with a 2001 QX4 I just purchased, sans remote. I have two from flea bay, one FCC ID: KBRASTU10, MODEL /01A, SUPPOSED to work on 2001 Pathfinder / QX4; and another FCC ID: KBRASTU09, MODEL / blank with Infiniti Logo, also supposed to work on 01 QX4.

Can't get either to program. I can get in program mode, 2 flashes of emergency flasher, but neither of these remotes will take a setting from there.

GRRRRRRR...

Bill
