I'm in big trouble. The key fob to my infiniti came off and I can not find it for the life of me. I went to the Infiniti dealer to get a new one and they said they are $500! I flipped out. What's worse, the guy said I have to program the vehicle at their facility so I will have to get it towed. I live 1 hour away! I don't know what to do. We bought this great car from a friend. I had to idea losing the fob would cost this much. Any suggestions? Thanks

You can buy extra keys on ebay for about $50 but you still have to get the car to the dealer to program the car and key together.

I guess I'm going to ask the question others have been thinking. If you bought the car from a friend, doesn't he have the other key that came with it when he bought it?TexasMadrone

You can buy new key fobs from this online Infiniti dealer for $290. They are currently having a 10% off sale. http://www.infiniti-parts.com/index.php

My M (I bought it used) came with only 1 fob. If you know what frequency your lost one is, or if you have another one, just remove the metal key part from the fob and then copy the frequency #'s. I got mine used off of ebay for $25. I then went to the dealer who programmed it free. There are also seller on ebay who have the metal key part of the fob that is blank and uncut. If you buy one of these, take it to the dealer also, I took mine to a hardware store and they almost ruined it before they got it cut so it would open the door. If you get a used fob, be sure to replace the battery in it, it is a coin type cell #2025. Looks like the size of a quarter, but thinner.

Cheap alternative to keep as a backup if you don't have a spare smart key. Still has to be programmed at the dealer, but that will save you a bit of money on the actual key. This key will open door and start car after it is programmed from the dealer...................... Boon
