alright, so i just go my 240 a few months ago. It started making this clicking noise in the engine so i checked it out. Checked the oil only to find that I barely had any oil in the engine. The crappy thing is that my oil light never came on. Im think'n it's because of the previous owner who did the swap on my engine before I bought it fouled up on the wiring somewhere, or the sensor is just bad. I checked for oil leaks and I didn't have any so I just refilled my engine with oil. But now my car seems to not have as much power and torque as it used to, and im think'n it's prolly cuz i've been running the car without oil for sometime and didn't even kno it cuz the check out light never came on.

I do plan on getting the engine rebuilt eventually, but that's gonna be some time from now, maybe next year or late this year.

any ideas on how to get those horses back?

a rebuild is a good way to get horsepower back, along with better gas milage

I would suggest getting an electrical oil pressure gauge in the cabin and/or an oil temp gauge and if they do anything funky you'll know. But in the meantime try some Seafoam in the oil run it around for like 10-20 miles at medium/high load let it sit overnight and change your oil with a synthetic and the problem may go away. when I got my S14 it had a small oil burning problem and I did a Seafoam through the vacuum and oil let it sit over night then changed oil to 10W-30 Royal Purple. No oil issues here since 128,000 now at 135,000 no oil burning!

I'm not sure how much carbon deposits have to do with temperature (resulting in oil breakdown) but when I used Seafoam Deep Creep when I had my valve cover off it broke it up and I run about 10 degrees cooler. So I'm not sure.
