Hi,

Im experiencing loss of powersteering while driving and I cant figure out where the problem is.
It works perfect under normal driving, but sometime under spirited driving it cuts out. Only way to fix it is to cut the engine and start it again.
Its hard to pinpoint exactly when it stops working, but as far as I can tell it cuts while under heavy acceleration.

Any tips what it might be?
I have checked the powersteering reservoir and its full and there is nothing under the front to indicate that something is wrong.

On a sidenote, Im doing a full change of old oils and thinking about trying some oil addetives for cleaning up old gunk in the engine.
Any perticular brand you recommend? and is it worth it using injector clean ?

Also, how often do you change your sparkplugs? I went and bought a new set today and the guy at the nissan dealership asked why I bother changing them as they are supposed to last 100k KM or something.
I know for sure Im not going to wait that long again, but whats the normal changerate ?

A malfunctioning speed sensor can also cause your car to enter a "high speed safety" mode with power steering. If the ecu is not getting a proper reading (could be poor connection, bad wiring, or a faulty sensor) it can cause varying degrees of madness.

I recently fixed mine, as at first I had almost no power steering pressure at idle. As the problem progressed, I would lose power steering pressure at higher speeds, and then eventually my speedometer stopped working.
