ok i have a ka sohc in a 1990 240sx.

My problem: the other day on the way to school i felt my car loosing power when i was stepping constatantly on the gas. When i got to my school i got out of class and my car wouldnt start. Weird. So when i try to turn the key the engine turns and it sounds like it wants to start but no luck. i managed to force it and it started. there was the smell of gas in the air and the engine had not power. when it started running again it was at about minus 500 rpms so i had to step on the gas to keep it running.

after a week the car ran fine but still had the jukes of loss of power.

finaly today the car died. it didnt want to start and the engine just turned. I dont think its electrical. I think it might be a faulty fuel pump or something internal in the engine.

i have no clue and its my daily driver. i need some help bad. anything will do. thanks for reading this far if you stuck around much appreciated.

thanks.

roll out.

well my friend's sohc was having 4000rpm idle before it started acting like urs...check the throttle cable make sure it is set right and see if ur tps been messed w/ before...apprently my friend's engine was rebuilt before and the shop did a ****ty job of hooking everything back up...if everything else is normal then yea could be clog fuel filter or fuel pump itself...good luck

did sound like it was dropping any cylinders at any time? If so and with the smell of fuel you might want to check your injector o-rings for damage

maf has to do more with driving than idle... do you have the Factory Service Manual (FSM)? start following diagnostic procedures in that.

does the car not start at all now? but it cranks? check if the fuel injectors are all clicking, check if the fuel pump turns on for a few seconds when you put the key in the ignition and to the 'on' position. if fuel is good, check spark, make sure all 4 wires are arcing. you can also unplug your MAF and your car should run in safe mode.

cheers,Marko

yo thanks a lot guys i got good ideas now and a new project with this car. i find out that with every thing that messes up just like all of us we grow a little closer to the car and figure out all the parts. ill check my cylinders, maf, and fuel injectors. {one of them spins and its not tight} i think i hit the bingo.

thanks a lot guys
