Post

Hi there,

I own a 2002 Nissan Primera 2.2 TD (DI) SE and it has been losing power and sometimes even cutting out. I have recently got the car remapped thinking that the problem had disappeared but unfortunately the problem re-emerged. I was filling the car for a while on Bio-Diesel and I thimk that it may be the source of the problem. I have continually used fuel treatments and changed fuel after fuel filter. After each fuel filter change the car has regained power for a while but then has returned to being sluggish and reving in high gears. Is this a worn or dirty injector problem as it seems to have all the symptoms of it? and how would I test it, fix it?

Many Thanks

Graham

Are the filters you removed always clogged up? If they are, you probably just have a TON of gunk in your tank that you need to get rid of...

Thanks for your reply, I have considered draining the tank but would there be an easier solution to the problem, I have tried various fuel treatments and injector cleaners, they have helped but haven't solved the problem. Would the gunk in the tank cause the car to rev in high gears? Graham

Sorry, yes the filters have been quite dirty but have seen dirtier. Could this be another problem i.e. turbo or intercooler leak?

revving in high gears sounds more like a transmission problem than anything... is it manual or automatic?

It's manual but it only revs the odd time which would last for maybe a day and the next day it wouldn't rev at all, the car may not do it for quite a while after that. It could be the start of the clutch going but you would think it would slip all the time if that was the case. Is draining the tank a big job? Graham

I don't know, I've never dropped a gas tank on a primera before...

but yes, if the engine is revving up while in gear, and you aren't moving any faster... your clutch is slipping.
