loss of horse power need help

i was showing off one day in front of my friends trying to do a burn out and i wasn't watching my rev's. i think they went to high cuz after my car wouldn't let me go above 2500 rpm. i drove home real slow and let my car cool down. after the car ran ok but it feels like its being held back. any ideas ? yea i know im an ***...

My guess is somehow you put the car into limp mode.

Reset the UCU, and you should be fine. It's titled for a G35, but should work the same.

I remember that the MAF has a fail safe that prevents you from exceeding a certain RPM and it also runs rich to protect itself.

Is your SES/CEL light on?

how do i reset my ucu ??? i have no lights on in the car and there is no visible damage. can u tell me more about this fail safe system the car has ?

the link that beancooker provided is your answer.... i did it - it works the same on the Z as it does the G.... make sure you get everything as close to the times as possible. and the 3 beeps you here when you first turn the key on, is your first three seconds..... i'm not gonna recommend it, but i counted - one, one thousand.... two, one thousand.... etc. worked!
