This morning on my way home from work i was on the freeway going about 55 and climbing. While my foot was on the gas and I was accelerating every time the bass hit it felt like someone had a rope tied to the car and would yank it back every hit. Almost like my acceleration would cut out for a split second when the bass hit.

I have the stock bose system with a 500/1 and jl 12w6v2 in the trunk. 1/0 gauge running through a dist block 4 gauge out. My lights dim a little at night and when im stopped the car dosent feel like its going to die. Is this a problem, should i be worried, any alti owners with similar setups experiene the same? Any help, suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Running the stock battery? Can't say I've ever noticed anything like that, and I'm chewing through power faster than you. Do you have a multimeter that you can use to check the voltage across your battery while the stereo is cranked (car running, obviously)? My first guess would be electrical, and the alternator should be fine as I'm still ok using stock. If it is the battery, I'd be worried cause it would seem highly likely it's going to die soon (see other threads here, the stock battery sucks).

Never had a problem like that. But yea the stock battery sucks. I would be really careful running your stereo without your engine on. My battery died the other day after 15 min of listening to my music at low levels. I ordered a kinetic htc1800 which is a much much better battery. I am currently pushing 1000 watts to my 2 10" Alpine type x and will soon be running 2600 watts.
