So ever since I had my engine rebuilt it's had a bit of an oil issue. I normally notice it when I run it hard. (First auto x was followed by a knock a week later, rod bearing). Soooo it tapped again about a month ago, I checked the oil and there was no reading on the dipstick. I filled it back up and the tapping stopped. I brought it back to the shop and basically told them to get there s*** together after finding numerous bolts missing off the underside of my car. They replaced all the bolts with whatever they had that fit. (all the bolts actually fit). Anyways that was a month ago and I'm back on empty again.
I'm not sure how much the dip stick reads because it didn't have any oil on it this morning. I put 2 quarts in and checked it again and the level was right at the H. I'm confused and can find no leaks. The oil drain and my return bung are fine so I really don't know. Any ideas?

there are only two places for oil to go, on the ground or out the exhaust. there is a definite possibility that your slinging oil out the front main or rear main while the car is running and not while its at rest but there is evidence on your motor somewhere of your leak. i had a friend that used to put baby powder all over the lower half of his motor and then run it to find leaks, the baby powder will wash away and leave drip trails, its a messy job.
