LOSING OIL!

hi guys.....i have a 92 g20...5speed manual trans....i noticed that i'm losing oil...t3 weeks ago, i took my car back to the mech. where i bought the car from, cause i started hearing a clancking noise coming from the engine, and so he checked it and found out that the oil was really low, we added 3 quarts of oil...and jst this weekend i checked the oil level and i noticed that it is low again....we checked for the leak under the car, but didnt see any visible leak, besides valve cover gasket, but that's not even much....i have a feeling that im actually burning oil...ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED..thx

If it's not leaking out, you certainly are burning it. Of course, it could be both.

What does a wet and dry compression test yield?

if you were indeed 3 quarts low,you were running the engine with only one half quart left in the crankcase,as the total capacity of the g20 is around 3.5 quarts! I cant believe you havnt damaged the motor............

Same problem on my brother's 95 G20. Mysterious loss of oil, no discernable leak, no apparent smoke. It just disappears... and if he's not careful he'll sometimes end up 1-2 quarts low!

I had a 93.5 g20- bought new and drove till 150,000 miles- mobil 1 oil change every 5,000 miles,never used or leaked a drop-one of the best cars I have ever owned!

I had the same experience with my '95, 170,000 miles with no oil leaks or burning (I bought it with 119K).
