Hey guys,

My 90 240 is losing coolant( not sure how much yet, just got car) and the cam chain makes alot of noise, not too bad at idle gets worse as the revs climb. Car doesn't seem to be burning coolant( no smoke out of tail pipe).

TIA,Darren

may sound like you timing chain has wore through the water pump cover. How many miles and when was the last time the timing chain guides were replaced.

Like s13sr20chris said remove the valve cover and check the timing chain. If you could get a peak under where the timing chain runs over the water pump cover. Check for where the timing chain could have wore a hole in it. If this is the case you should replace the cover and replace the timing chain, tensioner and guides. By the way white smoke out the exhaust is coolant.
