oHi, I'm Mack, im new here, and I have a 78 datsun 280z.

The problem here is that when im in 1st, 3rd, or 5th, the shifter flops aorund like it does when I'm in nuetral. I can't tell if i'm in gear or not unless i push on the gas and it moves.

Well, how do I go about fixing this? Can i get in from the interior of the car, or to I have to get underneath and get into some stuff?

Well you need to order some shifter bushings first. You can get them from nissan or ebay. Yes you can get at it from the inside. Just take off your center console. then take off the little rubber boot under that. then you will be looking at your transmission and shifter. there is a pin that goes through the shifter. there will either be a bolt or a pin holding it in. take that off and take the shifter out. replace said bushings and put it all back together.

you can also use chrystler door pin bushings which are tighter and last longer than the plastic OE ones, pick them up in the help section of your parts store, you'll have to press them in with a vise but really tightens things up
