Hi, I have a 1992 Q45 in LA, CA and I am looking for a reliable mechanic in the area that could have a look at it and fix some problems it is having with it's power steering (seems like the pump might be failing) and the A/C (Blower works, air isn't cold).

Thanks for any help.Robin

I would recommend you seek referals for a qualified experienced on Q technican rather then a generic mechanic.

Cheap is often the most expensive thing you can ever do!

As for the A/C, the Factory Service Manual (which should have came with the car, it's a thick little grey book) has a pretty thorough step-by-step process to elimate a lot of possible reasons for no A/C worky worky.

I take mine at Japanese Auto in Torrance, ask for Dan and at Southbay Infiniti. Couple of their experienced and qualified technicians owns G50.

Just like our Q45 Tech says these are qualified technicians.

Jerry is good but SD is 140miles away so if you want someone closer I would call Richard at Z-Expert, he knows the Q's well now and is in Marina Del Rey. his number is 310-396-7200. He's worked on my cars for over 15 years, Z's, Maxima's, Q45, and others.

Thank you BadQ45t! I can also recommend Richard at Z Expert. Richard is a Nissan/Infiniti specialist and has been working on them for many years. He also owns a 91 Q himself. Q owners in the LA area should check them out. Here's a pic of their sign out front, kind of a small sign. They're at 595 Venice Blvd in Marina Del Rey.

There is a mechanic that knows the q45 inside and out. The place is called CarZone and its in Van Nuys. Call donald 818-373-1330. He worked at Miller Infiniti for 15+ yrs i believe, i also believe hes a infiniti master tech certified.

A simple rule for all imported cars looking for a technican is to look out back in the fenced security area and count the number of your model in various years. Ask for referals from their data base of customers.

T3 has multiple thousands of current and ex Q45 owners in data base back to just 2000. With 3 shops we have seen more Q than any ATL dealer sold.

Shop for your special car just as you would shop for a specialists physican for your family.

that guy works for Valley-based people better than Z-Expert. What I like about Richard is he really cares about customers sat and makes sure it is right himself and if it isn't right he makes it right. I left LA 10 years ago and have drive my cars down lots of times just for service. I literally just drove my 84' 300ZX down to him from San Fran to get timing belt, water pump, all hoses, all belts, and about slew of other things refreshed. He also did my Q45 lowering springs and KYB installs as well driving down from SF as well as tune-up etc on the Q.

So if you look at his lot it isn't really fair as he's got a slew of old Z cars on the lot so looking over the fence you see his "bone yard" as he buys up any old Z's to use (or people who dropped off cars and never came back for them) as parts cars (most Z31's) but on any given day you'll see Q's, Z's of ever year and in every condition and tons of other Nissans. He'll work on Toyota's too in a pinch or for friends and family (he worked on my Wifes Galant and my dad's girlfriends Camry).

I have used him for 15 years, so my 25 year old car has seen him for a long time.
