2007 Nissan Versa SL. Working fine, then all of a sudden getting on the interstate it lost power. I pulled off and then limped home at about 40mph. After a short time in the garage poking at things, it started and ran good for a couple of miles, then started doing the same thing. Looses power and won't idle. Once it dies, I put in Neutral, crank and it runs full speed for about a block or two and then does the same thing.

I did put an aftermarket O2 sensor in about a month ago to pass inspection.

No check engine lights. Oil, Water look good. Started just fine this morning, but I didn't dare take it 25 miles to work. Did seem to hesitate just a hair when I killed it.

Spoke with Nissan on the phone, they said probably not the Packs and probably not the Fuel Pump. They say maybe wiring or Ignition Module.

Any Thoughts????,

Mike

Has this one had the fuel pump regulator replaced? It was a problem with lots of 07's and 08's, if not afterward. It sounds like what would happen if it went bad.

I've not replaced the regulator or pump. Only thing I've ever really done is the primary o2 sensor which was cross threaded. On another note, I read the codes and there were none. How can you tell if it's the regulator vs the whole pump???

I don't really know, but there was an unofficial recall on the regulators. When folks brought them in, the dealer knew about the problem and replaced the regulator at no charge. After so many years, though, I don't know that you'd be able to get it done for free. Just a guess that it might be related, but it does sound like an issue somewhere in the fuel system. I would think an ignition system problem would be all or nothing, not just a loss of power. Hopefully someone will come on here who's actually poked around in the engines and can offer real advice. Good luck!

Tonight I put a whole bottle of Sea Foam in with the 1/4 tank of gas. Drove it around for about 30 minutes and it seemed way more normal with the exception that it wanted to die when pulling up to a red light or stop sign. Does this mean I may just have some bad gas??
