loosing power above 4k rpms?

Car: nissan 240sx se (93 240sx se and 95 240 sx se)

ok. its a 93 ka24de. 190,000 miles on it. im thinking its the alternador or a bad ground. i just wanted to see if anyone has had this happen to them before. it hasnt tried to stall yet it just looses power. the lights dim and and the car stops trying to pull. your oppinion is much appreciated.
