I've bought another s13, just could'nt walk away from this one although standard setup its got a front mount int, and a dumpvalve with a screamer and manual boost control.
right when driving the car seems to be fine turbo boost's with this loud screaming sound?/? which i've never had before and half way thorugh the boost it just loses the boost
not sure why that is, the exhaust has a bad leak at the manifold which can be heard loud soon as the cars started up.

its got a bailey dump valve by the throttle and not sure if the screaming sound is coming from the d valve or ??? cause when the boost starts off then theres a gradual build up of this scream ( sounds kind of awesome)

now half way thorugh the boost just goes away, very surprised cause the guy who sold the car to me said its a new turbo, he said its a t28 but looks like the size of a t25 to be honest i could'nt tel the difference maybe its a t25.
but this boost thing is kind of holding the car back for some reason.
pls guys help me out on this one,
1st time bought a car with a manual boost controller and a screamer thingy so need some advice on where to start

Make a boost leak tester and put it to work. It'll reveal if your blow-off valve is leaking, as well as any other pesky boost leaks. Be sure and spray everything with soapy water to get a good view of the leaks with bubbles.

Here's how to make it:

As far as telling if your turbo is a t28 or t25, you could always look up the part number, which should be listed on the middle section of the turbo. Or post pics of it on here.

An exhaust leak at the manifold will cause you too lose boost. Get the gasket replaced.

He means the gasket between the manifold and the turbo. It has blown a piece and now has a perfect set-up to make a horribe noise while you are boosting. Average labor time for the novice 4 hours. Good luck

thx for that will chase up especially the boost leak tester brill, and by the way the SCREAM lol that i hear whilst boosting would that be the "horrible noise" boost boy has mentioned, someone told me it maybe a "scream pipe" now whats a scream pipe? i cant see anything connected to the fmic or throttle, tell me about it just learning these things, and yep all gaskets are a pain to get off, but what i'll do is disconnect the manifold( the 2 nuts beside the turbo are the fun part which i get under the car to do like an hour for both mm by mm cause the spanners not got much room to move) and from the down pipe exhaust the 3 nuts and take it from there.

does anyone think that the manual boost controller might be opening the exhuast waste valve too early or something cause thats where it wired up to

I'm with boost_boy and float. If the gasket between the turbo and manifold is blown exhaust will exit there rather than through the turbo. This will cause the turbo to spool late and choke out/lose boost early because there isn't enough of a driving force (exhaust gases) pushing through the turbine.

A screamer pipe is a straight pipe, but just for the wastegate. The car will sound pretty much normal, until you hit full boost and the wastegate opens. Then the gases moving through the wastegate exit unmuffled and can be very loud, I.E. the "scream."

Now, I don't know anything about the guy you bought it from or how the car is set up, but if all the exhaust is stock (mainly the turbo elbow because idk how one could have a screamer pipe with the stock turbo elbow) then the seller may have said it had a screamer pipe to make you think the sound was normal and to cover up that the exhaust leak was there. But again, I know nothing of the guy or the car, so I'm not trying to bad mouth anyone. It's just a thought.

yep its sure a stock elbow turbo pipe thats on and i'm in the process of getting those very awkward and hard gaskets off so new ones can be put on, so i can improve my boost eventually
the wastegate is internal with these turbos so how would a screamer pipe be put on,
i'm thinking of getting one and putting it on cause if its the gaskets i've gotta sort out the nextthing will be to get a screamer pipe on.
i've seen one thats on a elbow pipe like fixed on as a second, would that be better or the wastegate one

We need pics asap. The things you're saying you have don't match up with what you're describing.

right, i've had a go at the manifold and boy was it a JOB. replaced all gaskets now and wahey the boost keeps right in there, but the scream has also gone the square gasket had like a triangle not bigger then a inch so replaced that also, and all manifold gaskets cause i had to take the whole mani off and disconnect from the exhaust.
I appreciate all the info thx a lot guys. HAPPY DAYS
