Loose shifter

hey guys,I just bought this 92 300zx n/a in feburary. I haven't had many problems besides the bad clutch, steering going on and off, and the new problem, my loose shifter.I had the clutch replaced by a stage1 clutchmaster.The power steering goes on and off while driving, but trying to turn when stopped makes a slight grinding and buzzing sound.The other problem is the loose shifter. My shifter will wobble (about 2-3 inches diameter) in Neutral, and in and gear.

change the lower plastic bushing on your shifter. the grinding and buzzing sound in your ps, how's the reservoir? use dexron 3 atf if you're running low. my 240 makes sounds like a whirling sound once in a while if my ps fluid is running low. might want to give that a try.

thanks. there maybe a leak in my ps tho, i just filled the resevoir up last month, and now its low again. but when i do add fluid theres no change in the steering's reactions.

check the seal on the front of your pump maybe blown out

Where can someone get that nylon grommet at the base of the shifter?

the bushings? u can get urethane ones or rubber at an autoparts store. best bet is NAPPA or PEPBOYS. i still need to get mine, but right now i have too many bills to get off my chest.

I took apart my shifter and looked at the bushings. i'm missing a bushing but it seems like the roc to the transmission is also loose. i have to go now but i'll get back to it in a second.

I have an extra bushing if for some reason you cant get one.
