loose shifter.

ive had this problem since i bought the car. the shifter seems to be wiggly in neutrel and through out all the gears. so basically u can rotate the wiggle the shfter around while its in gear. my car is the ony one out of all my 240 friends. so ive heard that it might be a bad shifter bushing. but dont have a clue. its not bothering anything its just kinda annoying is all.if u can help at all thanks in advance

Mine was pretty wiggly but its held up. What I did was I bought a short shifter and a knob of ebay and cut the short shifter as short as possible and still have the knob fit. It feels way better now and I can shift very fast. It will stiffen your shifter considerably though and girls would definetly not want to drive it but I like it that way cause you realy feel it shift instead of it feeling like a joystick when its in gear.

shifter has a nylon bushing on the end that can come off when it starts to wear or if someone had it apart it can fall off... you can buy used stock shifters on ebay for next to nothing... any 240 shifter will work, sr20's as well

this plastic part may be broken or missing.



call a dealer and explain it to them and ask for a part number. it should be called a 'shifter bushing' of some sort and retails between $3.xx-$5.xx
