Yesterday I bolted up my transmission/driveshaft/engine. I poured in approximately 2.4 liters of manual transmission fluid (75w-90 GL-4).

After everything was together, I sat in the car and decided to shift through the gears for fun. My first impression was that the engagement was quite loose and sloppy. Not good. 3rd gear hardly engages, and can easily be pushed out by a soft touch.

I was not happy. I started browsing the internet and found a deal on zilvia for the Circuit Sports v2 solid shifter (http://www.phase2motortrend.com/cispv2soshs11.html) for $55 shipped. As i was about to buy it, i wondered if this would even fix it.

What do you think? Do I need new bushings? Rods? Will this even be a problem?

Help me out NICO.

you need a short shift to get those tight, crisp, feel if you have a stock shifter.

doubt that its dead. its the blown shifter bushings that go in these cars.

You could rebuild it.Here is what MrGreeneyes told me in his build thread.
. wrote:1x 32204P (upper snap ring)1x 32850N (socket assembly)2x 32879 (wave washer *i use two, one below the top snap ring and one in the bottom OEM spot*)1x 32862 (boot)1x 32861 (bushing for the bottom of the lever)

Then assemble in this order:

FROM THE BOTTOM UP (aka how you'll reload the shifter)

wave washersocket assemblyshifter lever w/ ball pivotsecond wave washersnap ring w/eyelets"c" shaped snap ring (the one WITHOUT little eyelets in it) (save this from your current oem setup)

the second wave washer takes up a lot of the slack, in case you were wondering.
I've already ordered the parts on that list, they are en route to my house.I'm rebuilding my stock shifter to replace my Megan shortshifter.

nifares - that is a picture of a b&m shifter i found for reference.

razi - how much did it add up to. if its any more than 55 shipped im just going to go with circuit sports for the ease of everything.

thanks for the help though.

well if your gonna replace it, you might as well upgrade to shorter throw since stock is like an S10 shifter, dont rebuild it cause thats just gay. i have a used megan racing and it works good for cheap sh*t. also make sure you have everything placed properly under the snap ring plier.

You might not want to call something sh*t while your recommending it...

I honestly have no idea, and I am pretty sure you can get to it easy.
