what else does that connect to? cuz the other things-ac compressor adn waterpump-can be adjusted outward to make the belt tighter

12mm and 14mm sockets and a rachet is all you need to adjust the belts. which belt is loose? if its the alt belt the alt moves to adjust it. if its the power steering/waterpump belt the p/s pump moves to adjust it. if the a/c compressor belt is the culprit there is an idler pulley that you adjust.

Do they make these? I know of electric ones, i was just wondering what the gain would be, fans cant be that heavy, although it is sprung (i think thats the term) weight.

you can find the pulleys with the bolt that's popping out perpindicular to the bolt that's holding the pulley in place for most. The one on the alternator (sohc specific in my mind), there's 2 bolts, one that's parallel to long bolt that holds the alternator in place (might be easier to tighten the alt by loosening that one that's at the bottom too), that's the lock to keep the alt from moving back, and there's the bolt that runs perpindicular to that one. That's the one that'll tighten the alternator belt. Then re-tighten the one or two bolts that are holding the alternator in place. You will have to remove the intake piping all the way up to the rubber part that's connecting the tube to the intake manifold to get to the alternator (sohc specific again).
