i was reading stuff and ive read some stuff that says that if you dont tighten the crank bolt enough you could get low oil pressure, anybody know anything about this?

doubt it, the crank itself runs the oil pump thats inside the front cover(this is for a DE, not sure about the E)

but it sure would spring a leak due to the crank pulley not bein all the way in.

you will have low oil pressure. My buddie had a bad oil leak but it was more of a spray when we got it on a lift. After 200,000 miles the KA(de) crank bolt came loose. Oil pressure from the main bearings go through the crank to the rod bearings and at the end plugging the crank is the crank bolt.

Oil does not run out of the front of the crank its blocked off from the oil passages in the rest of the crank. Oil does run threw the crank into the rod journels but does not run out of the front or the rear. Do you put silicon on your front crank bolt NO, no need to because you are not sealing off anything. If your gonna post on here atleast know what the **** your talking about. If the bolt comes loose and your crank pulley comes out some you might lose oil from seal but not the crank......

ok then loosen the front crank bolt and watch the oil spray out then. Clear as day on a lift. Oil might leak from the front crank seal but it wont spray and guess what oil was spraying from around the bolt.

ok then pull the bolt out and look inside the hole with a light and i bet you a million dollars you will see a flat surface which oil cannot pass unless something has damaged the end of the crank, in perfect condition oil does not come out of the snout of the crank, go to more school before you try to prove people wrong. Should i also loosen my lug nuts and go drift to see if my rim falls off , you give some great advice junior........the reason your buddies crank bolt came loose and you had spray was probably do to the crank letting oil pass threw the end of it were it is not suppose to. check your crank for problems in the snout.

Anyone know what size socket fits the crank bolt? I am replacing my clutch and flywheel and I have to have the flywheel held still and I read somewhere that if you use a breaker bar to hold the crank bolt that the flywheel will also not move. However, I dont have the right size socket, and I need to borrow one, but I dont know what size it is. Anyone?

if you use an impact gun on the flywheel bolts then you dont need to hold the crank

240sxmech you are right about the crank bolt. All the info i had on it was got from the guy it happend to. He swore on his life that oil would come out the bolt. So i had him check and guess what.....he owes me his life. My bad you were right about this one.

I believe it was a 27mm. You can stick a socket between the ring gear on the flywheel and one of the dowels on the back of the block to hold it.

if you hold the crank bolt to loosen the flywheel bolts sometimes the crank bolt comes loose before the flywheel bolts, i used a chain on one of the bolts that holds the pressure plate on, then put the other end hele where one of the bolts holds the engine and transmission together.
