Hello and first off so glad i found this forum, hope i can get some assistance.

I have a 2010 Rogue, been great to us. Last yr the compressor went and we had it replaced, worked all summer and obviously not a problem in the winter. This summer my wife reports it was working, then it stopped. I checked the charge and it was still full from last yr so being the compressor is under warranty we bring it back to the shop that installed so they could check. Unfortunately i wasn't with my wife to get more info, but prior to testing they found a cable loose. Plugged that back in and we have cold AC again!! But its clearly something loose as i was driving the other day and hit a bump....just like that AC wasn't cold.

Anyone know where i can start looking for this 'cable' ? shouldn't be a hose i don't think. I relatively know my way around the car i do our basic maintenance but AC systems i'm not familiar with. Thanks in advance if anyone has thoughts.

Call up the dealership and ask them what they did and what cable was loose.

Try looking at the harness attachment right at the a/c compressor clutch.

I think i found it, the cable coming out of the top of the compressor (couldnt find one under) seems plugged in but after i removed it and replugged it back in...bingo cold air again. Unfortunately wife went driving next day and after 30 min or so warm air again. It must be coming just slightly loose. Now the trick is how do i get this to stick together. I'm going to try zip ties or electrical tape.

In case it keeps doing that have a look at the clutch faceplate air gap too. They only allow for maybe a .030" gap there or so, as wear happens the gap gets bigger and past a certain point the gap gets big enough the magnetism drops off to not pull the faceplate over to lock up at times, it can then work and not work. The gap then gets adjusted back smaller by means of small thin washer(s) under the head of the single bolt that bolts the faceplate on.
