...which means the GT-R will most likely be a forced-induction 3.7 (which we suspected all along).

A VQ37 would rock.

But please tell me the new G isn't going to look like that picture!

Guess it's a bad angle or something. The headlights look different to me.

Probably because it's the sedan variant. Never liked the G sedan much.

The sedan in that picture is NOT official nissan/infiniti anything.

That's not an official Nissan concept, it's a magazine photoshop.

Nothing about the refreshed G35 sedan has been released yet, only that coupe concept. This picture was circulating around for a couple months now.

The headlights on it remind me of a Toyota.

Bland.

It's not official, but a little research reveals that Nissan has trademarked "G37".

They also have a trademark on "G35". No such results on G32 or any other combination...

Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm....".

Shouldn't it be 'G36'? I thought it was a chassis designation...

Correct.

Jimmy, shame on you - you should know this. Nissan / Infiniti has been using the displacement to designate their cars for ages...

Q45, 300ZX, 350Z, G35, G20, 240sx, 180sx, QX56... all relevant to the displacement of the engine.

Chassis code is something completely different.

^---not ENTIRELY true..

the older Q45s are 4.0..

same way the new BMW 325i and 330i both have a 3.0L engine...

They shoulda just made it a G40. Rolls off the tongue much more nicely. =P Maybe even G38 instead. G37 just has too many syllables IMO. But G40 would be much more fun....

Huhn? The first-gen and current-gen Q45 are definitely 4.5 liter engines, or certainly close enough to round to "4.5"! I have owned two of these cars.

There was only a brief period when they introduced a 4.1 liter engine for this model (and there are still some folks who insist this should have been called a Q41 ... I am not one of them, FWIW.)

My current M45 is also a 4.5 liter engine - the designation of M35 and M45 is still accurate in this manner.

^---that's what i meant, even if the name is Q45, it didnt always have a 4.5 (my mistake, it was 4.1, not 4.0)..

just like the S12 200sx's, some had 3.0L VG30E's...

while others had CA18ETs

Kouki 180SX had a 2.0QX4 had a 3.3, then a 3.4 and now a 3.5The chassis code for the G35 was V35, I figured it was just a letter substitution once it was taken to the states because G sounds cooler...And it being a G37 on a V36... sounds weird.

The chassis code for the Q45 with the VH41DE is FY33.

The First generation M45 with the VK45DE is a Y34.

The current M35/45 is a Y50.

The will at least have to go to larger valves then.

Few know that the larger VQ35DE cylinder breathes through less valve area than the smaller VH45DE cylinder.

Might still be a V8, but a boosted one would be a monster. Porsche is getting over 500 HP out of their twin turbocharged 4.5L closed deck (like the VH45DE) V8. They will soon be putting it into some new cars.
