Hey Tony

Don't take it personel.

Here is a photo of my first car POS Ford

Execept mine was black & white.

Insurance companies know that putting an 18 year old male in a 400hp Infiniti coupe is not a good risk for them and they charge accordingly.

Save your money, get a Honda Civic or a similar cheaper vehicle for a few years.

Just my $.02

Put it in a reletatives name and pay cash for the car!

I have a million dollar policy on my G with 0 deductibles for comprehensive and collision and I pay 130 per month with Geico.

I have it in my aunts Name so that I save it on the insurance! If not it would cost me over 4k a year to insure it!

Cool! I want to do this! How do I keep from being charged with insurance fraud if I am in a serious accident! Can't they deny coverage?

as long as you are a relative and you (Borrowed the Car) you are safe... It would be as if you said hay aunt can i take my Gf out for a date... or hey she was out of town... and didn't want to let the car sit...

Just make sure you insure it for family and relatives.

I have done this with all my cars... My Lexus was the same thing... I had it under my grandfathers insurance!

Also pay cash for the car that why the family member doesn't have to also finance something for you!

Can't live with them? Because I still live at home (got to save money before I move to Germany this summer one way or another!) I was able to list a parent as my main driver and I pay...hold your breath... ~$200 every six months. No there is no typo there! I do have a deductible but I would think in the OP's case a deductible isn't the end of the world if he gets the car he wants.

Our insurance agent is a family friend from long ago and knows the situation-he actually recommended it. I think the only drawback to this plan (and maybe Tampa's as well?) is if I do something stupid, my parents can be sued for that since I'm under their name. That's worth checking into with Tampa's plan so you know full-well how responsibility lies should the issue arise. Otherwise, my car is in my name and being financed.

Soon my insurance drops to ~$40 for every 6 months when I leave the country. Seeing this thread I suppose I should be pretty thankful for my situation and the money I am saving.

Wow....having a car in someone elses name doesn't sound good to me. Whoever the car's name is in is the one that is going to get the crap sued out of them if the car is involved in an accident.

Even though my husband and I have been married 27 years, his truck is in his name and my car is in mine. That way if the car is in an accident, nobody can sue us for our house because it is in both of our names.

You guys must not have the money-grubbing-ambulance chasing attorney ads on every channel where you live.

The G is a sports car...if you're under 25, you gotta pay to play. That's the way the insurance company works.

Now if you live 5 min from your job-that's a reduced rate.

If you put on less than 10k a year-that's a reduced rate.

If your married-that's a reduced rate.

Just go online and search for auto quotes... I'm paying around $150 a month for two cars. It was only 79 a month for just the G.

I was initially quoted over 2K for my G, after some research and finding the best deals online I got it down under 1K. KEEP LOOKING

I was in my 40's when I had my WS6 Trans Am. It was $80 more a year for the WS6 than the regular Trans Am. The WS6 had only 20 more hp. It would be easy to get 20 more hp out of a TA.

Insurance companies have a license to steal.

That's exactly why I included that in my post. It has its risks involved so trust is an issue in this manner.

I agree with BrandAid...check those sites online that claim to be the best (Geico and Progressive, etc...). You may find a pleasant surprise and can certainly thank me later when you get random calls and emails for signing up to check their price comparisons.

Who wants to bet Telco still drives that car on Sundays to relive his youthful days? Anyone?

I kept my 94 Volvo which keeps my rate extremely low. I pay $88/ month. USAA is the mack daddy for cheap insurance. Good luck finding cheaper quotes, don't let it discourage you from a remarkable experience of driving a G everyday. That is interesting to hear about the WS6. I was thinking of getting one of those this summer. Good to know before I shop.

It's strange, my State Farm agent told me for some reason, the WS6s are wrecked at a much greater rate than the regular TA. When I traded the car in, the sales manager at the dealership couldn't believe that my car had never been wrecked....strange.

Let me know if you decide to get one. I'm a member of a local F-Body club. Some of my folks might have a good one for sale or know of somebody with one.

I've had USAA for years! They are pretty cheap...because they only offer it to service members. But the cool thing is that when you get out of the military, you can keep 'em on!
