Found a nice black on black 87 Turbo 2 seater near my area for pretty cheap. Gonna go test drive it tonight and see what the concerns are...if any.

Any helpful pointers anyone care to share????

rust! look at the "A" piller near the base, look at the floor pans, rear lower quarter panels near the wheelwell, being in TX hopefully it won't be an issue, mechanically as long as the timing belt gets changed they have been trouble free for me

** UPDATE ** And my plans.

Found the following rides around town for the price range of $1.5K-$3K.

87 NA 5spd 2 seater - runs so-so, interior is **** for the most part. Black. Guy wants $1,500

84 NA auto 2 seater - runs very well, interior is perfect, maroon. Guy wants $1,600.

My plans are to - Take a VG30E and build it slightly, shooting for around 400hp but maintain traction and good handling/driveability. Essentially shooting for good even power throughout the powerband.

Probably will gut the interior completely except for seats, dash and center console. Will most likely weld in a small rollcage in the rear, like a take off of a standard rollbar design with a few more points.

I really don't want to start off with a piece for such a nice project, even with a budget of $7K total. I honestly would love to find a Shiro, but they are getting super hard to find.

the 87 has wider track width and uses the more common 5 lug wheels, also come with better brakes, that would be a better starting point IMHO

actually if you could find an 87.5-89 turbo model it's already got the LSD adn the best brakes etc, so all you gotta do is add and I/C more air and fuel and control it and you're done

Any month specifice for the 87.5 mention. June, July?

Or is there a quick look reference underneath I can do to verify. I image there is probably no visual stamp or factory cast marking that will distinguish it from any other.
