Haven't ridden since I was a kid and both my bikes were stolen. I've been cruising Craigs and eGay and other places looking for a project, nothing really serious but I'd appreciate working with something from that period - 80's to early 90's - to ride around on. I've seen plenty of deals on everything from frames to complete bikes but I know there's a decent group of members here that have bikes and I was thinking maybe we can help each other out.

If anyone wants to point me in the direction of a project for a steal (economy blah blah) or parts, I don't really care about it being mint condition, I like character that frequent use brings.

I found a deal on a '76 Rampar that looks like what I'd want, but there's some questionable stuff going on with it... for one, the fork isn't a factory part that I can tell. No pics I've seen of this bike have this fork but the seller sent me some. He is no doubt knowledgeable but I don't want to pay for something that was cobbled together out of spare Huffy parts. All the other parts look factory but the seat is torn and the tires are dry-rotted from sitting in storage for 30 years.

I also have this intercooler that would be good for a KADE project and a bunch of 2.5" piping, couplers and clamps that I'd be willing to trade for bike-related stuff. If you have any :)

I don't have any parts, but I scored a Mongoose Pro for Christmas. I'm the same as you, as I haven't had a BMX for... geez, maybe 18 years?
Those forks on the bike look WAY out of place, but it would be a good project.

I found some period-correct beefier Rampar forks in San Antonio and the guy is willing to ship them to me so that's taken care of.

Oh yeah, I went ahead and bought this lol. The frame is small for a cruiser but I just wanted a pit bike/something to screw around with so it should be fine. I already have it stripped completely down, and I'm looking for:

- new bars
- new fork (maybe found)
- new tires (found)
- new grips
- new seat

I want everything to be old-school period and I found a lot of NOS parts to buy. This isn't going to be anywhere near what some people pay to put together a decent bike, my overall budget is only $100 +/-.
