i've been lurking around on this forum for a while now.. and I was wondering what i should look at when getting a 90-92 q45...

right out the bat im getting coilovers, so i dont care if the stock suspension is blowni know the injectors may need to be replaced, and maybe also the coil packs, and the timeing chain will mostlikely need to be replaced as well..

is there anything else i should look at?

and as far as i understand the 300zx brakes are bolt right in(change of lines will be needed though), which means the 350z brakes do as well...

and i cant find the link for the 5speed swap parts can some one help me with that?

and on a last question is it too much of a hastle to convert from pedal parking brake to a side parking brake?

and i forgot to ask...

the diff is an R200V which means its the same as the Z32 and J30 and 240sx so that means the internals are swapable?

Hmm, yay for coherent thoughts??

Ill go through and give my opinion on everything, if you dont like it dont get bent out of shape, feel free to take what I say with a grain of salt..

First, coilovers on a G50 are retarded I think. The cali custom springs I get (which i dont care if i sell because i dont hardly make money on them, just a little to make it worthwhile) make the car ride wonderful and make the car handle great, and also make the stance of the car perfect IMO... Coilovers would be pointless, a waste of money, and so on..... But dont let that stop you, I just like being able to clear speed bumps..

Yes injectors can be problematic, mainly anywhere that gets crappy gas (especially the NE, cali, AZ, and places up north)... They were redesigned in 94 so they can handle crappier gas.

guides on the 90-93 Q need to be looked at and likely replaced. its always worth paying more money to get a Q with the guides already done.. Trust me on this one, unless you just get a smashing deal (less than say 1800).. anything above 1800 for a 90-93 sans guides is a waste, unless its just perfect everwhere else, and id have to see it to approve

Z32 brakes go right on.. you can use the stock lines just cut down the banjo bolt a little bit (2-3-4 threads or so).. ive got em on my Q and have put them on another Q. Please search for more information, but its by and large bolt on, no custom mfg.

Theres no "5 speed swap" parts so hence your inability to find anything about it.... :D THere have been VH45 mounted to Z32 5 speed but not ina Q.

I dont know why youd want to convert to a pedal E brake to a handle, but you could probably rig up a Z32 E brake and cables, good question wehre your gonna put it (maybe next to the seat like the jags?), but if you wanna do that, your on your own..

spend some time reading old threads, its worth your time.

Thank you, Wes.

Next Question: What's a "sticky"?

Irax, wait till you recover (I am myself now recovering from a bad sinus infection, so I sympathize), then use the Search function after yoou have read the stickies and the Articles Forum. It will save you from making some serious mistakes.

Then you can read all the posts by Q45tech to know what is required to keep these beasts healthy.

Get well soon.

where is the search button??????

just kidding... OMG as long as i been on this forum i never knew there was an article section HAHA

anyways i guess everythign im doing to my Q well alot of it is uncharted teratory, and you will kill me or think im stoops for what i want to do with it, but ill show picks when im done. still cant find anything about the differential and its interchangeability with the q45 diff and the 300zx diff or 240sx diff(or other R200(V) diffs).. although i see the R&P gears for the 4.11 ratio but i digress... thanks guys picks will be posted next month!

on a side note about the 300zx transmission swap i cant find a site that sells the kit(mounting plate and hardware).. can some one link me? please?

The diff gears can be swapped, but some spacers are needed to keep it from going "BOOM" Just ask rsiwiki. Look for threads pertaining to "4.08"

Richmond made a strong 4.08 gear for the Z32. There may be some left out there. It was a limited supply for a specific guy. They are made to NASCAR specs, and I have heard are bulletproof.

If you are going to drift, then don't waste your time on a 4.08 gear, go higher! 4.56!

Spend some time on the 300zx sites. A lot of the suspension stuff will work on the Q.

450zxtt can make you an adapter plate for the 5-speed, but I would personally go for a stronger transmission, and a 6-speed version for drifting or track. If you are going to drag race, stick with the auto, and get one from "Level10" spend some money on a good high stall converter.

I would love to see some pics of you car once you get it going.
