I own an 03 spec v. Currently looking to put in a nismo intake along with the cat back exhaust n header (w/o cat). I heard that having a intake along with an exhaust tends to cause a problem with the knock sensor. I was wondering if anyone had any info on this problem and what can be done to avoid it. I tried looking for it but wasn't able to find it. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know

Never heard of such a thing which it could do troubles with the knock sensor. Go for it, they are good bolt-on, don't stress yourself about this.

The knock sensor problem happens regardless of mods, so if it's going to affect you, intake and exhaust won't be the cause.

That said, IMO, the NISMO parts are overpriced considering they give you the exact same benefit as any other good name brand. Get what you want, though.

they are overpriced, but in the states, they not as expensive as they are in canada. add almost another $300 n u got the price of nismo parts here! But I managed to find a pretty good deal on them so I'm gonna end up goin with the nismo package.

i havn't had any problems i have all that stuff on my 04 spec but here is a tip HOTSHOT makes the header's for nismo,go there and get the header and you will save about 200 bucks. and there is a way to bypass the knock sensor you can install a million ohm resistor in place of knock sensor and the car will lock in the same timing all the time very consistant but i dont recommend if you daily drive. I had it done for about two years and i ran some **** gas through it and it was never the same.(spark knocked its *** off) so i hooked the knock sensor back up and its all good now.

I have also heard about the O2 sensor problem, the check engine light will go on if i put in a header w/o the cat. I don't beleive its anything serious, but how would I get around the check engine light

in this case, I do drive my vehicle daily, I guess if I run into a problem I will just deal with it then. Thnx for the hotshot tip. Dont think I'll end up gettin it, heard of some chipping and cracking problems on another nissan forums site. Actually I think I may end up getting the stillen header that comes with the race pipe, that combo costs pretty much the same as the nismo header itself.

HS doesn't make the NISMO header. In fact, HS doesn't make any header at all anymore. They've changed hands and haven't started producing again.

Check the Common Issues thread in the Table of Contents for how to deal with the CEL/SES light. I'm starting to think I ought to make that explanation its own thread.

my bad, its been a while i have had my header a couple of years now been out the game a while...you can over come the o2 sensor problem by relocating the rear o2 behind the second cat and it will be fine i have had no problems, when hotshot sent me the parts it included instructions and everything to make it happen. im sure that any good header shop will have the same stuff.
