im tired of missouri and the scene here is dead here. im having a hard time on figuring out where to buy a house. im debating between myrtle beach, columbia, and greenville. i prefer to be by the beach but im not 100% clear on what sc does for registration, is sc a safty inspection state or a smog state? cause here in missouri its saftey inspection. im also a auto technician so i would like to be somewhere where auto shops stay busy. i have a 98' s14 with an r33 rb26 swap that i did myself. any input on sc would be greatly apreaciated, i am planning on moving there next year. i would love to work at a nissan performance shop, but a normal shop would do the job.thanks in advance.

Greenville is a pretty happening place. I think its the most populated county in SC.

I know there is a nissan specialty speed shop in Greenville, i cant think of the name but they always have shells for sale and have done numerous swaps.

in SC there is no smog or saftey inspections at all. as far as good shops i know Top Dead Center in Spartanburg SC(not too far from Greenville) do alot of import performance and general repair.

well i used to live at myrtle beach and it all really depends on where exactly you would move there and where your job is because it sucks getting stuck in tourist traffic on the way to work or on the way home from work. I lived about 5 mins away from the water so sometimes i would get stuck in traffic but you get used to it plus you find all the short cuts to avoid alot of the bad traffic. i didnt work when i lived there, i got a free ride from my grandparents...lol. there used to be a good import shop there but they closed which is sad because one of the dudes there had a R34 skyline.

I am the GM at an Infiniti dealer in Hilton Head we also own a Nissan store and are about to break ground on a Audi VW store that will be done in the Summer of 2010. We are always looking to talk to a good tech. Let me know if I can be of any help. Hilton Head is beautiful. Not a big as some other areas but growing. Not to mention Savannah is 15 mins away.

Greenville is probably one of the most happening places in SC besides Myrtle Beach to tell you the truth. I live 45 min north of there in Asheville NC. I am planning to move to Greenville in a few years once out of tech college. Sunday nights are fun to go hang out with all the tuners at Quaker Steak and there are plenty of jobs at specialty shops around town.

its actually one of the more better places, not terrible with tourists, lots more to do in myrtle than in columbia, charleston, greenville. plus they have drift events every wednesdayat the speed way. columbia is all hood and retired, charleston is like RETIRED.greenville is just kinda...lame,dirty, and boring. i live in columbia and it sucks cause most of the nissan guys here are either too busy or too lasy, so the scene is almost non existent aside from the high school honda boys, everytimei go to green ville the only thing i do are the slight touge esk roads along with the tunning shops but that's not something id choose to do on my off days every day but then theirs not much else to do.charleston gets more tourist than myrtle......lots of deh ol' people.but columbia is closer to Charlotte which soon will have a drift and time attack specific track open 5 days and 50 bucks for a 4 hour session and weekends are for sanctioned races, and the tunning shops are much nicer, hell Charlotte in general is much nicer .

Greenville has a drag strip and there are a few car forums in the area. A bunch of cool people in the area.
