Hey guys,I poked around with the search function, but didnt really come up with anything that I was looking for. I have a 92 240 with a late model SR in it (WITH cooling fins on the head) and I had some guy put it in for me awhile ago who didnt do such a great job. I found many missing bolts, and things not tightened down and so on.

SO what I want to do while I have the resources to do so, is take the engine out, rebuild it, put forged pistons in it, a t28, 550cc injectors, z32 MAF and up the boost to about 15psi. I want this car to be a semi-daily driver, and thats the whole reason I want to tear the engine apart and put newer/better internals in it.

Im having a problem finding a good place to buy a whole set of parts you need for a complete rebuild. The only place I could find is importperformanceparts.net but they dont have anything in there specifically for a s13 silvia sr20det. They have a bunch of parts listed for the sr20de engine code, but I dont know if it all matches up. I know a bunch of you have done rebuilds already, and I was wondering if I could pick your brains for some info so I buy the right things.

I really want this car to be nice, and run great at the same time. Im in Michigan, near Detroit and my spirit is already being crushed daily by the lack of drifting, and 240's. I dont even think there are any tuning shops around that could help, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

for stock rebuilds, most parts are interchangeable with SR20DE including piston rings, main and rod bearings.

Any local auto parts store or a local nissan dealer should help you get the parts.

If you want to order online, you can go to places like hybridynamics, heavythrottle, enjuku, phase2motortrend,240sxmotoring, etc etc and they all stock SR parts. All are excellent to deal with.

If you are ever near AA come say hi. I will be more than happy to help you out.

Haha, I just emailed you bro, just to let you know. Im in Sterling Heights and its cool to see someone that lives around here with a 240.....

Ok, would you suggest I just buy all of the OEM bearings and whatnot for the rebuild? Or is there some place that sells higher end aftermarket parts of that type? Should it even matter?

Ok, so I was writing this to someone and thought I should get other peoples opinions about it since there are so few 240 owners that live near me.....

Im seeing too many people that have these motors (SR20DET) on stock internals having like a GT2871R and running like 15 pounds, 300+ hp and having the engine be fine. Thats exactly what I want to do to my car. The only thing Im worried about is, the dude that put my engine in did a horrible job and I keep finding things wired wrong, and things not tightened down. So, I want to just take the engine out again and start from scratch and just fix all the mistakes. The car did drive 1800 miles from San Antonio to Michigan so, the setup obviously works.

You guys think it would be pointless to rebuild? The motor I got initially was really crappy, it had broken off injectors, and the CAS plug clip was broken.... the wiring is really off... but again, the car obviously is setup at least somewhat correctly if it can drive from San Antonio to here with no problems, and getting like no joke 35-40 MPG the whole way there....it just runs like total crap now because Michigan gets so cold. I really like the car, and the engine alot, and I would love to make the car super nice, but Im tight on cash, tight on time, and the car has to make a 2400 mile trip in a month and a half through the freezing *** northern part of the united states all the way to Seattle. SO wtf ever... Im done typing...

You know, a stock rebuild will suffice for your planned setup.

Hell, my buddy ran a GT2871R + 750cc/min injectors @ 351whp for a year on stock internals.

I plan on running a GTiR T28 + 550cc/min injecotrs @ 310+whp on stock internals.

Just make sure you have a decent tune, or at least a tune that is on the rich side.
