Hi Nicoclub,

I'm currently the owner of a 2006 m35x that I feel is getting up there in miles so I'm looking to get an M37 instead (would rather not have AWD again but that's all that's available around me within a 200 mile radius!).

I went to go look at a 2011 M37x white with java interior and all the packages (technology, deluxe touring, premium) with 80,000 miles and I have a few questions.

1. When I started the car the engine was cold and I thought it was displaying some weird behavior. I was in park and when I pressed the gas up to 3,000 rpms and let go.. the RPMs would hang there and rev for a few seconds even after letting go of the gas and slowly decrease as if the car was moving in gear and losing speed slowly. In my M35x the RPM's drop right away when I release the throttle while not moving. What could be the cause of this? When the car was fully warmed up it did not behave this way. Could dirty throttle bodies cause this?

2. What is this downwards round button used for on the lower left side of the steering wheel?
Image
Pressing it every other time would emit an audible high pitched sonar beep that sounded like the battery was dying (bbeee-EEE-errr-p). I couldn't find a rhyme or reason to this button and have not seen any other pictures with this.

3. I know the 2013 has updated transmission firmware that increases the smoothness and responsiveness of shifting. Is it normal for a transmission that has not had this software upgrade to feel a little jerky or "bucky" during city driving?

Thanks all for any and all replies! :mike

Brian, that little button looks like something aftermarket to me. I have very similarly equipped 2013 M37X, and do not have a little button there. I also just took a quick peek at the owner's manual and can find no reference to a button there.

As for the revs, I'll check my car and see how it behaves a little later today.

I'm pretty sure what your are describing is part of the warm-up phase. Mine does a similar behavior every time it's a cold start. Button looks aftermarket, maybe part of an alarm system.

Same thing happens to me on warmups takes a sec or 2 to drop down from a slight rev up I don't know why. I don't have the button either looks aftermarket to me maybe ask the owner? The transmission aren't the greatest but I wouldn't describe mine as that jerky. If i drive like a normal person the transmission shifts smooth just doesn't know what you want sometimes.

1. Haven't noticed this behavior, but will need to check the next few times with cold starts.

2. Don't have that button (definitely looks aftermarket because it is positioned right in front of the Vehicle Dynamic Control [VDC] System switch)

3. Hmmm shouldn't feel too jerky or bucky, is it like that when you put it into manual mode?

While upon startup it is common for the revs to be higher, for the RPMs to hang there seems odd. If nothing else, I would absolutely get a PPI done at an Infiniti dealer.
If nothing else, when they come up with it needing 12 billion dollars of questionable reconditioning, you can use that to get the price down!

That aftermarket switch kinda gives me cause for concern as there are so many hacks out there and once someone messes with the OEM wiring, it is most difficult to get it right. Don't get me wrong there are many skilled techs that I would have zero issues with doing so. Problem is not knowing who did the modifications.

Best of luck with your search!
