So I live in Houston, TX and just recently had my previous car totaled (my brother was driving and got rear ended on the freeway, other person's insurance paying for the car). I'm looking to purchase a black on black automatic G35 coupe from a private seller also in Houston. I went and saw the car yesterday, am very interested, but at the same time unsure if it is worth getting this car when the new body style comes out next year, right? Here are my questions.1) I was wondering if it was true that there was an option in 2003 to get an aftermarket Injen intake from the Infiniti dealership? The car has the Injen intake and the seller said that it came like that from the dealership. If so, can anyone provide me with a link to information on the intake.2) Does the factory warranty transfer over when the car is sold? What are the factory warranties on 2003 G35 coupes? What does it cover?3) Considering the new model comes out next year and old models will drop in price, how much do you think I should be willing to spend on the car?

TIA for the input and I look forward to posting here more often if I purchase the car!

First off, welcome aboard!!!

1) Wrong. Never happened. Injen nor Infiniti never did any such thing.

2) Factory warranty remains in effect. I believe it is until 50K miles, and is very comprehensive. Check back in here and we can show you how to extend it for a LONG time, cheaply.

3) I just paid $26K for a 03 Coupe (6MT, Aero, Premium, Navigation) with 34K miles. You can compare accordingly, the autotrans should be a couple grand LESS because the Brembo / 6MT package command a premium.

Glad to have you aboard, keep us posted on your purchase!

Thanks for the quick reply AZhitman! 1) Okay, so since the guy lied and doesn't know **** about the Injen intake, I need as much info as possible on what you guys know about the intake. What are the pros of it, what are the cons? He does not have the stock airbox, which is what I asked him for when he first showed me the intake, so I could not switch it out if I wanted.2) How could I get an extended warranty for cheap? Does it matter which dealership? I'm not sure where the guy purchased the vehicle from, but there is an Infiniti dealership close to my house, could I get the warranty extended there?3) Did you pay $26K after tax, title, license? The car has 35K miles, no aero kit, no navigation, (whats premium?). Considering you paid $26K, what would you say a reasonable price to pay the guy for this car? (that is, before TTL, which will be another 2 grand or so that we pay to the county)

You got it buddy...

1) You can swap it out easily, some "kid" would LOVE to swap his OEM intake for it. It's not a bad performer based on my research but there are better intakes for the G.

2) Don't buy your warranty from a dealer, find our link to Warranty Warehouse (on the right side of the page, hit refresh if it doesn't show up). I have used them, they're awesome, and offer the SAME warranty your dealer will sell you (minus the fat dealer markup).

3) $26K out the door. No tax (out of state), title / license will be paid in AZ and will be probably $500 or so.

Go to http://www.kbb.com, I'd recommend you offer Kelly Blue Book Trade-in value and work from there. Don't go anywhere NEAR retail, as it's a private sale. Look at autotrader.com for values as well.

If it's PERFECT, I'd pay no more than $23K. Trade-in value is between $17-21K, depending on what he's buying.

Welcome aboard. Congratulations on the new care. I love the black. Did watching Desperate Hopusewives bring you the name of your car?

I would stick with the Injen intake. It is a very solid intake and will give a few more hp and it adds a nice sound to the car.

rydwhite: I believe Eva Longoria's character is Gabrielle. I am gonna stick with the intake, I have no other choice right now.

AZhitman: the deal definitely worked out in my favor :o)
