Whats up fellas! Ive been reading alot of posts recently in hopes of purchasing a trouble free m35. Alot of what I have read in regards to maintenance issues dont seem to be to serious. I am looking at picking up an 06 model, but my question is, is their anything with that particular year model I should avoid and go with an 07 and up due to the 06 being the first year make on that new body?

Also, anything I should look out for in general when picking up my M? Specific maintenance issues to look for?

Im looking for a white m35x with under 70k miles. Thanks!

By the way this forum is full of alot of helpful info. Looking forward to posting once I make my purchase.

There are no defects (which I know of) that were specific to the 06 & were resolved in 07. Other than normal used car issues (such as maintenance history, accident history, etc), I would make sure the driver's seat is not loose at all.

Funny you mention accident. I was just about to go see an 06 m35x with 65k miles for 18gz at the dealer when I saw the carfax it stated the car was ina n accident. I called the dealer back to cancel and he says its just an accident thats why we priced the vehicle accordingly. I said an accident is an accident and im looking for ACCIDENT FREE!!

If you can afford it and don't need the AWD, then you should consider the 08 and up. The 7spds will help with gas and the RWD is easier on mods. (More parts and cheaper)

The way I see it, ive been driving front wheel drive vehicles my entire life with no problems during NY winter driving. So awd is not a requirement for me. I'll look into the 08's. Its just hard trying to find the exact kind that I would like. I love the 08 sport models. The sport bumper makes the M look even more aggressive.

How does the RWD handle in snow? And every 08 M35x im seeing is a 5 spd. Is the base model 7 spd? Im kindy picky with the model im looking for. The 08 model has the chrome trim running all around the door panels which I dont really care for. I think the all white looks much cleaner.

For 2009, the M35 received a new V6 engine producing 303 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque and a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2009 M35x, M45, and M45x retained the five-speed automatic.

If I live in snow again, I will get a FWD/AWD/4x4 to drive in bad weather. Most days RWD is okay, but one patch of ice on a turn and a RWD just spins out. This has been my experience at least.

Any other suggestion I would definitely look for the advance tech package!! The 14 speaker 5.1 digital surround sound by Bose is an awesome addition to this car. IPOD integration, hard drive is awesome!! The added safety features on the 08+ are very useful... The LDW/LDP lane departure prevention actual works amazing!! ICC is very useful especially paired with the LDP. As for color choice.. White would be my #1 choice but all colors of the M line up are great! I personally would avoid the black... Had one in the 07 and couldn't stand it... :gotme

Black sucks. First and last black car I'll ever buy if I can help it. Should have waited for white.

That & the I.C.C. were must-have items for me. Right on, Bodyguard :mike

Both my M's have been black. I know it's high maintenance but damn it just looks soooo god when clean. If I didn't get black again, I was going to go for dark grey with a bourbon interior.

I agree that it's nice when clean...problem is it only stays clean for a couple hours or in my case, minutes. I live near a cement/rock blasting quarry...so I have to drive on the road that the trucks use.

I like the Diamond Graphite, but i'm biased since mine is that color, although white looks pretty tight-plus hides swirl marks and dust doesn't stand out. Black seems to show everything...so much work to keep it looking good

^ agreed!!! Diamond Graph is a great color....I've had plenty of black cars and I do know they look sharp when clean, BUT...too much work!!!

good luck with your search...I'd say stick with colors; white, silver, diamond graph...

I have an 06 M35 sport...did a front bumper swap for an 08 -- made a huge difference.... :dblthumb:

Bas - Hope your search in going well, I have a 06' with +180K miles and haven't had any major issues. It's a great car. Do you realize that the M's are rear wheel drive? I'm from NYC and when I have visited and it snowed, I had to take cabs because I only run summer tires. If you get all season tires it may be better then my experience.

Still searching. This is one RARE car!!! Not too pleased to hear about the handling in snow but im guessing a good pair of all seasons should handle that. I've seen many guys hear in NY with G35s in the winter and they end up spinning tires on the side of the road.

RWD vehicles = a set of wheels in the garage with snow tires on them, sitting ready for long winters. It's quite common.
