My wife and I are looking at a 2008 Rogue SL as an option to trade in my 2005 SAAB 9-3 for our growing family (1st baby on the way!)

the car has 36,000 miles, AWD, has the Bose package and is in very good overall condition

the dealer is selling for $16,999 (list price of $17,999)

i am interested in seeing everyone's experience with the Rogue (i dont know anyone who own's one)

also, i am wondering about what recalls i need to look into and any known service issues.

Do you know if you can buy an extended Security+Plus warranty from Nissan on a used Rogue that is not sold by a Nissan dealer?

thanks ya'll

Sounds like a Rogue similar to mine, mileage and all. If it has leather + a sun/moonroof + tow package. I've had mine sine January 2008 and still love it like the day I bought it.

Hi there and welcome to the Rogue forum!

To get started I'd recommend viewing the Glossary of topics, most of the information you are seeking will be contained there. Once you've done that, you may have a more specific question that you can post up and then I'm sure you'll get more responses. Look here for all the info that you seek:

Also, another prospective Rogue buyer just posted a topic like this a few days, titled "Sell me on the Rogue", you can review it here:

Good luck with the purchase!

hi Rogue to be. I just went thru a similar situation. I bought an SL with 29,000 miles and got it for 15,500. I bought it at a small dealer since my credit was not good and alot of places did not want to finance. I am so happy I bought it . It was the venom red and would have liked the white but i could not be picky. Over all super happy.

One thing i suggest is get the vin number and take it to a nissan service department. There might be a extended warrenty from the past owner that you can buy from the past owner and the transfer will cost you 25 dollars. I found this out after the dealer had sold me a separate warrenty. Also check car fax and make sure its has a good history. You will love it : )

I have close to 30k miles on my 2008 Rogue SL FWD -- honestly it's been the best car I've ever had. Sure it doesn't have lots of luxury, but what it does have going for it is definitely worth the price. Great handling, excellent turning radius, you can put a lot of stuff in it, and it looks pretty good. The little pop up bin works well, and the bose radio, while not the best, plays mp3 cds well enough, and the gas mileage is great. Parking is a breeze with this car, backing up is the only thing where visibility isn't that great. I took it fishing at the end of July, and I filled it with over 300 pounds of fish in the back -- maybe close to 400 pounds, and I could have put more. It only seemed to affect the handling a little bit, hehe.

It was offered as an option to me on my '08... once the factory warranty ran out. But it may vary... as I live in Canada.

If you really want an extended warranty, there are plenty of aftermarket ones.
