I prefer a CPO due to the powertrain
Nooooooooo. The CVT issues in the Rogue would make me more wary of buying anything that's not brand new, not less wary.
If you buy a new one and get a lemon (which is still very unlikely, although possible), you fight tooth and nail to get a warranty replacement of the CVT at no cost to you, then eat the cost of trading it in immediately after the repair is made. I'd much rather take the risk of having to eat the cost of trading in a 2017 lemon for a brand new 2018 or 2019 vehicle a year from now than the risk of having issues with a vehicle I bought that already had 17,000 miles when I bought it.
If you can wait a couple months, Thanksgiving is early this year. The 30th is the Thursday after Thanksgiving. Go in the following week and get a deal on a 2017 or 2017.5 leftover with less than 30 miles on the odometer. Start on cyber Monday, close the deal and sign the paperwork by Thursday the 30th. There will be deals to be had. The key to negotiating is first to know how to pit multiple dealers against each other, second being willing to walk and always remaining calm and cool, and third to not be too picky about color, trim, or options.
I absolutely would not touch a vehicle with interior damage, missing a key, and had a tire replaced already. One of those things by itself might not necessarily mean anything, but the combination of all three screams that the car has already been through hell.
