I'm in South Florida so regarding new M's the hardest model to find is the X because obviously snow down here won't happen until the next ice age. I'm at my dealer quite often because I get my oil changed every three months regardless of how many miles I've driven and I use the dealer because my service guy will have them do the 150 point inspection and a wash and vaccuum for free instead of the normal inspection that comes with the oil change.
But I digress .... the point I wanted to share is this. Each time I'm there I see maybe 3-4 M's at most on the lot, and none inside the showroom. There are loads of G's and a few FX's and QX's but rarely M''s. I asked one of the salesmen a while back and he told me they get as many M's as they can but on average they only stay at the dealer for 1-2 test drives and they're purchased so they don't discount much beyond $1,500 to $2,000 because they know any M they get will be gone that same month.
Today they had an M hybrid in the showroom that had what seemed to be every package but as I walked to the sticker window it had a red tag "sold" on it. It was stickered just over $62,000.
On the lot I found only 2 M's and neither was an S or X model, both had premium packge and deluxe touring package - one was $57,5xxx, and thre other was $58,4xx I believe and both had graphite interior which I personally do not like. Neither had the surround bose (no speakers in the front seats).
So ... to get a $5-6,000 discount probably best to shop right after the next model year arrives or maybe Nov/Dec when (so I'm told) car sales usually slow down.
They also had a used M35 (2009) with 28k miles for $32,000 that one every option.
