yes VA. the first owner lived in GA. Ill be going to check it out this weekend. What should i be looking for?SVTCOBRA wrote:which state?? VA? I thought I was told that VA is reported differently and not all instances get to carfax.
carfax is a good tool, but doesn't replace checking it out very carefully!!
ill def check for all of these. I know he'll probably lower his price, but what do you think i should shoot for? What should i offer for it assuming everything works well and there are few cosmetic imperfections? He said he babied this car and it was kept under a car cover when not in use, so i assume this car is going to be close to perfect.joe603 wrote:1. Ask if it burns oil....check it to see if it's low.2. Make sure the trans shifts smooth. 3. Check the tires for uneven wear. 4. Make sure the radio works. 5. Make sure the windows both go up and down.6. Make sure the brakes feel right (no pulsing or noise).7. Look for chips/scratches in the front bumper (they will reduce the price if you find a lot). The paint isn't very durable up front.
That's all I can think of for now...
i assume you meant 21 and 22 and not 21 and 21....lol.....yea i think i could get him down to 22 flat or even below 22....but im just as happy paying 22.5....according to the carfax report theres around 15 months left on the warranty, so thats good.joe603 wrote:It's worth 22.5. You'll have to feel him out for the price. Between 21 and 21 would be a good price for a clean car.
Keep the Altima.bina12834 wrote:im currently an '08 2.5 Altima sedan owner, and im looking to upgrade to the G35 coupe. im 25 with a gf and i cant figure out why i bought a sedan. with my current status in life i should be enjoying a nice coupe, so i figure nows the time to buy.
I found an '06 black on black fully loaded with nav and spoiler with 28k miles for $26k on carmax......is this a good deal?
Im going to wait til the Alti is fully paid off(going to happen in the next couple months) until i buy the G. I figure i should probably get around $18k for my Alti with a trade in, so that should take a pretty good chunk out of the G's price.
my job is pretty stable and the job market here in DC is actually thriving, so im not too worried about that, and ive only been seeing this girl for 2 months....to early for ring talk!!!telcoman wrote:

After its paid off continue to put the monthly payment into savings. When you have 6 to 9 months pay and the price of a new G in savings that would be the time to think about a new one.
Ask the gf if she'd rather have a ring or a new G for you
Just my $.02

So you are going to blow the $22k before you even get it.bina12834 wrote:

anyways, heres my plan for buying the G since the transition of cars with a private seller is a little rockier than with a dealer...
i better explain my situation a little so you have the background as well.....grandfather just died and i have a little under $22k in inheritance coming my way in the next month or 2. i currently have a little under $19k left on the loan for the Altima(i thought i took them, but when i left the dealership and actually looked at the sales receipt i realized they took me :-/).
so my plan is
1) take a loan out from my bank for whatever price we agree on for the G(assuming that im going to buy it), so ill have the G in hand as well as the Altima (because i cant take the chance of not having a car)2) sell the Altima once i have the G3) take the money i get from the Altima and put it towards the Altima loan, and whatever is left on that loan(if any) i can cover with savings4) when i get my inheritance, put all of that towards the G loan, and that should cover most if not all of it
so its almost an even trade except for a couple to a few grand extra out of my pocket to cover whatever is left(if any) on the Altima loan after i sell it
yea the Alti is nice(sort of), but a 25 year old guy with no family shouldnt be driving a 4 banger sedan....he should be driving a 6 banger coupetelcoman wrote:

Why not try to grow that $22k and not be so quick to spend it on a depreciating asset.
An S&P 500 Index mutual fund for some of it might be a good choice
Using that money to eventually buy a house would make more sense than blowing it all on a vehicle that depreciates
You've already got a nice car. Keep it for awhile
haha....i actually looked at G37's but theyre a little too expensive. the cheapest used ones i could find were at least $31-32k and the ones with the options i wanted were around $35-36k....thats $10k-16k more than im looking to spend on a G35....joe603 wrote:I regret following that advice with the market crash. I say, do what makes you happy. Hell, trade in the Alty for a new G37 with 10k down! You can get a good APR for the loan and have lot's of equity in the car.
thanks guys...ill def keep an eye out for all this stuff, and ill let you know how it goes on sunday. i know i wont be leaving there with the car on sunday because i want to see the car before i take a loan out for it, so ill porbably have it next weekend if everythign goes well this weekend.SVTCOBRA wrote:Also,Check underneath it for rust.Check bolts on fenders to see if they have been turned.Check hood bolts to see if they have been turned.check for accidents, bad paint - dirt in paint, overspray, etcCheck with Infiniti to see if they have any service records on it.and, of course, all of the stuff Joe pointed out!!
This is very sound advice. Right now stocks are still low, many great deals to be had. Another option is to wait for your inheritance to come in, and use that fund to pay off your Altima. Probably not want you to hear.telcoman wrote:

i got my 06 g35 coupe fully loaded black on black with navigation and 6mt and every package possible with 21k miles for $24kbina12834 wrote:I found an '06 black on black fully loaded with nav and spoiler with 28k miles for $26k on carmax......is this a good deal?
that was what i was originally going to do, but when i found out that i could trade in my Altima and get a G and it only cost a couple grand, how could i pass that up?docboy wrote:Another option is to wait for your inheritance to come in, and use that fund to pay off your Altima. Then again, cars are fun and life is short. Good luck on your decision!
yea im way past that car and on to a private seller on criagslist.....thanks for the input though!!infg35coupe wrote:
