Well, I have my eye on a CA powered 240 and I have been doing my research and such but also decided probably be best to post here. Just wanted to see what things I should look for (engine wise atleast) when it comes to buying a CA powered 240.

Thanks, Chris.

Hmm, so much to consider, does it blow smoke out of the exhaust...what color is the smoke if yes....Does the Ca shake badly when revved, maybe needs new motor mounts, you'll need CA specific ones. Take off one of the valve covers and check the valvetrain. Check the color of the coolant, is he meticulous about the car, or lazy, is there anything apparent that needs fixed.....

Other than that, I cant think of anything else to tell you without looking at the particular car in question. Hope this helps.

Oh, does the guy beat on it all the time, or is it occasional.....

Common wiring bugs (O2 sensor, knock sensor, etc). Lots of CAs have bad cold start problems. Check the turbo. If it is the stock T25, it is more than likely not going to live too much longer. Always be careful buying a swap with little experience with the particular engine. There are a lot of little things that can not rear their head on down the road.
