I'm new to the car thing, my roommate has an 04 Evo 8 and my other has a kouki s14.

Here is the autotrader link:

First I was wondering if that is a good price, its says its drivable so i assume the frame and engine is fine. I'm going to call the guy tomorrow. How much do you presume it would be to fix this car to tip top shape?

by the way, here are my roommates cars

Welcome to Nico!

if it's a total whch it clearly is as it's got a salvage title, repaired it's a 15k car max, so I assume it's gonna need a little time on a frame rack and of course the broken bits replaced and repainted, I have no idea what it would cost to repair, for 15-20k you can get a non wrecked car with a clean title, if you got the skills or the hookup it could be a deal

One of my real good friends went to UTI for collision repair and now works at a high end mercedes and bwm repair shop and all the work would be easy.

If there is no frame damage would it be a good deal?

And if its salvage repairable, does that mean it could be a clear title afterwards?

even when this car is repaired, it will always have the salvaged title, this is done to protect future buyers. if your goal is to put it back to stock, dont get it. If your goal is to put a wide body kit new hood, basically go crazy, then this looks to be a good start if you can get it around $11K

If you do not mind spending alot of money on a car that will really not be worth all that much when your done with it, then go for it.

Any damage can be repaired if you throw enough money at it. For the average consumer, doing this repair correctly would cost more than the value of the vehicle less it's salvage value. Vehicles are totalled when this occurs. Titles are branded simply for the fact that the average person would have to cut corners on the repairs in order to keep costs from becoming more of a financial burden than the car is worth.

As far as repairs are concerned, any estimate you get, even from a body shop is just an estimate. The actual repair costs can easily go up if there are hiddendamages lying beneath the surface. When insurance companies are working with body shops to repair a car, hey often get supplement requests from the body shop after a teardown of the damaged areas are complete.

OK, here's the thing. The money you put in, you'll never get out. A salvaged title is a hard sell down the road. Also, if you were to get into an accident, the insurance money probably will not cover the price you paid for the car. That said, if you don't plan on selling, and you are a decent driver, you should be OK.

What insurance company will cover a car with a salvage title, they will cover you for liability if the car is deemed to be in safe condition. MAYBE?

I've seen salvage cars insured for comp and collision before. As it will have a branded title, the total loss threshold should another accident occur is lower (since the value is lower) and any total loss settlement would be lowered by the branded title's affect on the theoretical sale price.

I've not seen any financing for salvaged vehicles though.
