looking to buy a 240

Hello everyone, I am new to the nissan world

I am looking at a 1989 240sx with a sr20det redtopengine has 70k miles, and it is pretty much stock besides turbo timer, BOV, and FMICand a 93 bumper

he wants 5500 for the car

now my questionsIs this a good deal? I havnt found any comparable cars in my area

Also is there any known reocurring problems with the sr20det? I have had two MKIII supras(currently have a 1987 turbo)

And they are known for blowing headgaskets, i have had to go with the HKS gasket on my current car

I would say that is a good deal. Most swaps go for generally 5000 or so. Depends how bad the person wants to sell it. If they really want to move it, I have seen lower (including mine at one point). The SR20 is a reliable motor. I havent heard of peopel popping head gaskets left and right...............

I was going to try and sell my car quick so I can snatch that one up... But then I realized that it's going to be hard getting the car to pass emissions.

I say go for it for $5500 if you have another daily driver. The car looks sweet. It already has the SR motor in it and if you have $1500 to spare you can make it look even nicer by doing a silvia front conversion and slapping some kouki tail lights. If you get both done by Oct 12, you can show it off at IREV and possibly win the grand prize and get some money back.

BTW, there's another SR20DET 240sx on Craigslist for $500 more.
